I have immense pride in
recommending East Sussex as an
excellent business location. I can
personally verify this having lived
in the county all my life, worked
here and run my own business here.
We have excellent schools,
academies, colleges and
universities and close proximity
to London, Brighton, Gatwick and
mainland Europe. We believe a
second runway at Gatwick will
strengthen the local economy
and further increase the county’s
attractiveness as a location
for businesses.
As a county council, we are
already building on these assets
to improve the economic
prosperity of the county, both
through our work with our public
and private sector partners and
through the South East Local
Enterprise Partnership (SELEP).
Our Capital Programme is a
programme for growth. We are
investing in projects aimed at
improving the economy by
providing better infrastructure
and opportunities that support
new and existing businesses,
new jobs and wealth in the
county. We are particularly proud
of the financial support we have
given small and growing business
to help them create new jobs,
described later in this directory.
We will continue to support
business growth and I urge
growing businesses both inside
and outside the county to get

In July 2014, East Sussex secured
over £66 million through the
South East and Coast-2-Capital
Growth Deals funded by central
government. This will enable
and unlock vital economic
infrastructure across the county
that will help our economy grow
even more over the next six years.
By delivering on growth, we will
achieve a vibrant economy.
We will help our communities
be more resilient and ensure
businesses are more competitive
and sustainable. Above all,
we are working towards greater
prosperity that will improve the
quality of life for all our residents
and our business community.
