Locate East Sussex has also
helped
Ctec Energy
, a UK leader
in heat recovery systems that
generate electrical power from
wasted engine exhaust gas, to
apply for a loan to move to a new
production facility in Newhaven.
The new manufacturing plant will
create up to 60 new jobs by 2017,
and allow the firm to develop
closer links with customers
throughout Europe. Ctec Energy
has forecast revenues of £15
million by end of 2015.
Mike Burns, Managing Director
of Ctec Energy, said:
The support we are receiving
from Locate East Sussex has
enabled us to move into our new
production unit, employ staff and
purchase equipment. Without
Locate East Sussex we would
not be here now.
There is strong demand
for our product and our new
premises will better allow us to
meet this demand. Great trans-
port links from our new factory
mean we can receive parts from
our suppliers and distribute our
product to existing and new
clients in Europe and the UK.
Importantly for Newhaven, we
will train people locally in order
to service the systems,
and then they will go out and
train people in the rest of the UK,
Ireland, France and in Italy.
Philip Johnson, Director of Locate
East Sussex, said:
Forfars and Ctec Energy
are excellent examples of how
Regional Growth Fund money is
allowing organisations realise
their ambitions to grow, and
Locate East Sussex is delighted
to be delivering this service.
We are very keen to hear from
other businesses that may
wish to apply to our Regional
Growth Fund programme.
Our work to provide access
to funding that enables growth
and job creation is having a
strong impact on the ability of
local companies to implement
expansion and relocation plans.
Newhaven is emerging as
a highly viable alternative for
affordable, well serviced
commercial premises for larger
SMEs and manufacturing firms,
and I am sure we will continue
to see increased interest in
this area.
The Regional Growth Fund
(RGF) programme is a £4 million
fund for all businesses that
are starting up, growing or
relocating in East Sussex to
create economic growth and
sustainable employment.
There is also support available
for existing businesses as well
as new ones.
Forfars
, one of
the oldest bakers in Sussex,
is moving its operations to
Newhaven with the help of the
Regional Growth Funding. The
bakery, (which supplies its own
network of shop outlets and more
than 40 wholesale customers
including Asda and the Co-op),
has successfully secured funding
in order to expand its current
output and profitability.
Matthew Cutress, Production
Director at Forfars, said:
Locate East Sussex has
been very helpful in getting us
to the right place by moving to
Newhaven and by helping us
with funding. We have managed
to secure a grant and a loan
for the restoration of our new
building and turning it into a food
factory. It has also helped us to
phase our move more easily.
We have always been near East
Sussex and so for our customer
routes it makes sense for us
to stay here. By moving to
Newhaven we are not losing the
advantages of the A27, which
is our main service route.
