The £2 million South East Urban
Coast Creative Enterprise
Support Scheme (SUCCESS)
run by Hastings Borough Council
targets the creative sectors in
Hastings and St Leonards,
Tendering and Thanet. The
grants are to support the costs
of starting up or growing a
creative business. This can
include extra staff costs, new
or extended premises, and new
equipment. Grants of between
£3,000 and £150,000 can be
awarded. Existing businesses
must provide 75% of the cost
of the investment and new
start-ups 50%.

Business Growth Grants –
Coast to Capital & Greater
Brighton City Region
This £3 million fund is run by
Coast to Capital Local Enterprise
Partnership and Brighton and
Hove City Council and covers the
Lewes district. It offers grants to
small and medium sized busi-
nesses that are planning expan-
sion and growth but not finding it
easy to find the finance required.
Grants of between £5,000 and
£100,000 and up to 25% of the
expansion projects costs are
available to businesses that can
demonstrate they will create jobs.

Regional Growth Funding to four
programmes that cover different
parts of the county.
East Sussex Invest 3
This is a £4 million grant and
loan fund for start-ups and
businesses that employ less than
250 people and plan to grow and
create jobs. The fund covers the
whole of East Sussex. It is a
capital fund that requires a
minimum of 50% matched
funding. Maximum grants of
£160,000 and loans of £250,000
are available. Applications are
appraised by an independent
grants and loans panel that
assess the viability of the
project and the value for money.
As a guide, grants are awarded
at a rate of up to £8,000 per
job and loans of up to £16,000
per job created. A selection

Escalate
This £5.5 million business loan
fund covers Wealden, Hastings,
Rother and West Kent. It offers
loans of up to £1 million at 0%
interest (for five to seven years) to
businesses that are planning to grow
significantly. It is administered by
Kent County Council.
