East Sussex Invest 3 (ESI 3)
funding has helped businesses
to realise their potential and
ambition for growth.

of Connor Developments Ltd, is
proud to announce the expansion
of Chaucer Business Park. David,
a local developer, completed
Chaucer Business Park in 2011.
Even though it was well into the
recession he had faith that there
was a demand for good quality
units, and he was proved right by
quickly filling them. He is now
well on the way to completing
phase one of a new extension
with the help of ESI 3 funding.
The extension has an additional
7,352 square metres made up of
40 commercial units and 28
offices, all built with eco-friendly
materials and equipped with solar
panels. With high quality units
and low running costs, this site is
perfect for accommodating the
needs of a variety of enterprises,
large, medium and small.
In order to expand, the park
needed a high capacity substation
to supply the needs of the new
units allowing businesses with
high electricity demands to locate
there. The cost of a new substation
is significant and it would have
delayed the development
considerably. With the support of
ESI 3, David was able to install
the substation and begin
construction on the business
park extension.
David said:
This funding just came along
at the right time. By paying for
the electricity substation, I can
extend the park within two years.
This expansion will get people
from their kitchen table into a
high quality work space with low
running costs.
This development will provide
massive employment opportunities
in the district. It is estimated that
phase one and phase two will
create room for over 300 jobs in
the area. Perfectly situated for
any growing business it is only a
stone’s throw from Polegate town
centre, with its station linking
directly to Gatwick and London
and just off the A22 and the A27
linking to Brighton. Set in the
foothills of the South Downs, the
site is proving to be a desirable
hot spot.
