customer service training which
is the leading customer service
package in the UK and has been
used to train millions of people
worldwide including volunteers
at the London Olympics. SCC can
now offer this leading customer
service training to local small
and medium businesses in
Tourism, Retail, and Hospitality &
Catering for free, due to funding
from Hastings Borough Council.

Additional support for workforce
training will soon be available
through the
employers portal
–
an online portal for employers to
access workforce training.
This is a south east wide portal
where employers of all sizes are
empowered to take a leadership
role in training specified or
designed for business needs and
to industry standards.
The employer portal is being
funded by the European Social
Fund (ESF), and the money will
be used to deliver a wide range of
innovative training and support
which will help employers across
the south east improve their
own and their employees’ skills.

Sussex Downs College
with
campuses in Lewes, Eastbourne
and Newhaven, runs a variety
of courses for employers and
employees to meet their training
needs. Their one day employer
short courses focus on
management, IT skills, health
and welfare, and social media.
The college also has its own

of matrix accredited account
managers offering impartial
business advice and guidance
which over 1,000 businesses
have benefitted from.

Plumpton College
is a
land-based college that offers a
variety of courses for students
and businesses specialising in
the agricultural and forestry
sectors. It has a dedicated
Business Training Team based in
the Sussex Rural Business Centre
which provides a range of short
courses, seminars and events
that can be tailored to business
needs. They also offer work
based learning with a programme
of apprenticeships, vocational
short courses and business
management training.
