The Green Growth Platform
will deliver a £3 million
boost to the environmental
economy in East and West
Sussex, Brighton and Hove.
The Green Growth Platform is an
innovative new project designed
to drive growth in the green
sector in East and West Sussex,
Brighton and Hove. Led by the
University of Brighton and
supported by local authorities,
further education colleges and
business leaders, the project will
embed conditions for growth in
the sector through the delivery
of a demand-driven range of
business services to environmental
small and medium sized enterprises
(SMEs) operating in Sussex.
The Green Growth Platform
launched in June 2014 will
engage with 1,000 businesses,
create 250 jobs and develop 25
new products or services over
the next five years. The project
offers bespoke growth
assessments and plans, 1-2-1
business coaching, innovation
and research and development
support, tendering support and
bid development, training and
skills development and an exciting
range of business events.
Skills gaps will be addressed by
the development of new courses
and modules with further and
higher education partners and
the provision of high calibre
graduate interns to companies.
Companies will benefit from
being linked in to a vibrant green
sector business network. Support
will be available to businesses
making grant applications and
tendering for valuable contracts,
and the university will facilitate
collaboration between innovators
and leading researchers,
providing the knowledge and
innovation to underpin the
development of new products,
services and technology.
As the need for a low carbon,
environmentally focused
economy becomes ever more
pressing, the Green Growth
Platform seeks to place local
businesses as frontrunners in
unlocking the huge potential of
the sector.
